Jill Swannack, DVM

Dr. Jill Swannack grew up on a dairy farm in Monroe, Washington and made her way to eastern Washington after high school. She attended veterinary school at WSU in Pullman and during college married Art Swannack, a farmer from Lamont, WA. After graduating, Jill worked at an animal hospital in Colville for a year to gain experience, after which she opened her own practice in Sprague, WA in 1992 with a goal to serve her local community through veterinary care for both large and small animals.

After the building in Sprague was condemned, Swannack Veterinary Services was able to open in its current location – on Art and Jill’s farm in Lamont, WA, where Dr. Jill continues to serve her community through veterinary care for both large and small animals.

Leah Swannack, DVM

Dr. Leah Swannack, Art and Jill Swannack’s daughter, grew up on the family farm in Lamont, WA. She attended Montana State University for 2 years, before being accepted into veterinary school at Washington State University. She graduated from veterinary school in 2022, after which she started working at Swannack Veterinary Services. In her free time, Leah loves raising and training horses and mules, especially her cart-trained mini mules, Duke and Ann.

John Nystrom, DVM

Dr. John Nystrom, newly acquired from Ithaca, NY, a town known for its waterfalls and its wine, originally hails from a small town in Northwest Arkansas. His veterinary training was completed at Cornell University along with an internship in Ambulatory and Production medicine. He and his wife, Adrienne, as well as their mutt Iona, moved to Medical Lake to be with family early in 2024. Dr. Nystrom is excited to be a part of the Swannack team. Ask him about his favorite procedures (calvings and laceration repairs) or about his twin brother (also a veterinarian!).

Shelby Dixon, LVT

Shelby has a beautiful daughter Paisley that recently went on her first horseback ride on Shelby’s horse named Biscuit. In her spare time Shelby enjoys fishing, horseback riding, camping, and spending time with her family.
